Akkodis are currently working in partnership with a global market leading client to recruit an Asset & Config Engineer to join a growing IT Asset and Configuration Management team supporting an enterprise business.

Please note this role offers hybrid working opportunities.

The Role

As an Asset & Config Engineer you will have previous experience working with CMDB or asset management toolsets. This role will give you the opportunity to learn and understand the Asset Management processes, policies and lifecycles, enabling you to follow them correctly and ensure systems are configured optimally to deal with the required configuration management needs. You will also review the systems and processes and polices where required, ensuring company and compliance needs are being met.

The Responsibilities

  • Maintain and audit the data stored within the CMDB, by utilising various asset management toolsets whilst focusing on discovery.
  • Ensure all data is accurate and up to date, recorded correctly and that the required processes are followed when updating this dataset.
  • Monitoring and maintaining discovery data across multiple tools and datasets to ensure the details of the hardware and software assets remain accurate and populate the CMDB.
  • Work with the product modelling team to assist with maintaining products.
  • Configure items with the required inception to conclusion processes, surrounding product lifecycle management and any associated configuration data.
  • Work with the CMDB team to help ensure devices are being scanned and are reporting on correctly.
  • Learn about all things configuration management, such as maintaining the SACM Dashboard, ensuring that data quality and accuracy is maintained to the highest standards.
  • Ensure that regular baseline audits are carried out to ensure meeting internal, Company and compliance objectives.

The Requirements

  • Awareness of asset management technology and scanning tools, preferably BMC Remedy and BMC ADDM and Discovery.
  • Interest in databases and SQL query language.
  • Inquisitive personality, with an interest in IT Service Management.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects with independent deadlines and deliverables, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with ITIL framework.
