Senior Pharmacy Technician - HePMA & Informatics

Job summary

As a HePMA Pharmacy Technician, your role is crucial in supporting the efficient and accurate deployment of a hospital electronic prescribing and medicines administration system. You will work closely with pharmacists, and healthcare professionals, to configure, implement and optimise Nervecentre HePMA within the organisation, which will revolutionise the delivery of healthcare within CTMUHB.

The role will facilitate plenty of opportunities for digital transformation of workflows within and outside Pharmacy with a vision to deliver more efficient and safer healthcare. The system will offer infinite opportunities for patient prioritisation, workflow management and integration with other systems with the ability to generate data that will inform future clinical decision making.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute and participate in the coordination of all aspects of the HePMA implementation and dependent systems e.g. Welsh Clinical Portal/PMS.
  • Ensure all medicines built in HePMA comply with relevant Pharmaceutical legislation to ensure patient safety is maintained
  • Assist when required the set up new medicines, users, cost centres and consultants on the pharmacy stock management system and HePMA system, ensuring they are correctly linked to directorates and specialities to ensure effective and accurate costing of medicines use.
  • To support the configuration of the HePMA software providing specialist knowledge input from their relevant field.
  • To provide specialist advice to end users on the HePMA system by supporting development and auditing a specialised training programme.
  • To support the development and implementation of new policies and procedures to ensure safe medication practice with HePMA.
  • Communicate to Senior Pharmacist - HePMA, current policies that will need updating to and to support this to ensure processes of HePMA working is clear.
  • Understand the use of other systems and how they interact i.e. System C, MTeD.
  • Responsible for planning and managing own workload, with a strong focus on delivery against agreed deadlines and needs of the service.
  • High level of accuracy skills required as the post holder will be building drugs in a HePMA system for administration to patients.

  • MMT qualification
  • Improving quality together - bronze
  • Experience in use of digital Pharmacy systems
  • Training/teaching qualification or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrating leadership, relationship skills outside of Pharmacy
  • Willing to work flexible hours around go-lives
  • Willing to travel within health board based on business needs
  • Able to implement new procedures
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail
Desirable
  • Experience maintaining digital Pharmacy systems
  • Management/supervisory experience
  • Awareness of PRINCE2 principles
