Business Intelligence Lead Diagnostics Analyst - Band 5 to Band 6 (12 month development plan)

We have an exciting opening for a Business Intelligence Lead Diagnostics Analyst to join our busy BI team and become involved with a variety of work with a focus on the CDC (Community Diagnostic Centre), diagnostic and RTT reporting and national returns.

12-month Development plan from Band 5 into Band 6

This post offers development to a Band 6 after 12 months in post, provided the post holder has completed & signed off a development plan with their line manager, to ensure they have met all the appropriate criteria to progress to the Band 6. The development objectives include but are not limited to; transitioning into the lead BI Liaison for the trusts CDC (Community Diagnostic Centre) including delivery of CDC data to the data warehouse, and managing relevant stakeholders in the CDC programme. Responsibility and ownership of the trusts DM01 & RTT reporting under the principal analyst, Training and support of more junior analysts in the team, advanced SQL, Excel tests and presentation skills tests.

Main duties of the job

Duties include:

Being the Trust's BI lead for the CDC project working in collaboration with a range of CDC stakeholders from other areas in the trust

Developing dashboards to support strategy deployment and service monitoring

Analysis and development of accurate, insightful reports for a range of stakeholders.

Ownership of the Trust's Diagnostic and RTT submissions, ensuring statutory returns are compiled and submitted in a timely and accurate manner.

Interpretation and presentation of focussed information to support the Trust's operational performance management and to inform decision making within the Trust.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be a key leading member of the Business Intelligence Team providing high quality information for the purposes of Diagnostic and RTT Reports, Commissioning information / SLA diagnostic monitoring data, Capacity Planning (including Benchmarking and productivity) and National Returns. The BI Lead Diagnostic Analyst will be responsible for the production of national returns and reports as directed by Principal analyst.

The post is to provide advanced analytical support, innovative ways of presenting information and develop new analyses to inform in the monitoring of Diagnostic & RTT services across the trust, including the CDC (Community Diagnostic Centre) work stream & being the trust subject matter expert on Diagnostics data and standards, having a responsibility to support users to correctly capture data and apply the rules consistently.

A key aspect of the role will be to provide assistance in key areas of the information governance agenda and support the BI team in delivering improved data quality & reporting throughout the Trust.

Desirable
  • Understanding of NHS data models and structures
  • Knowledge of SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
  • Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) charting
  • Knowledge of Trust procedures and protocols
  • Advanced skills with Excel (macro level) and SQL query language skills
  • High level of competence in a reporting or data extraction/manipulation module
  • Skilled in statistical data analysis and interpretation
  • Skilled at interpersonal communication including training others and presentations

Experience

Essential
  • Substantial experience in an information services post
  • Substantial experience in desktop applications in particular Microsoft Office
  • Experience of SQL and Reporting Services
Desirable
  • NHS Informatics experience
  • Power BI experience
