Apprentice Electromechanical Engineer
Role
The Apprentice Engineer at Technical Level 3 is a crucial member of our engineering team, responsible for supporting various engineering projects and tasks. With close mentoring support, this individual will work under the guidance of senior engineers and will apply their technical knowledge to assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of our products/systems.
Assist in Product Development:
• Collaborate with senior engineers in the design and development of new products or enhancements to existing ones.
• Contribute to the creation of detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Mechanical:
• CNC and manual machining
• Reading and interpreting detailed drawings
• Fitting and assembly
• Fabrication
• Material specification
Electrical:
• Wiring of electrical panels
• Piping and wiring of machine frames and cells
• Termination practices
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics
• Testing and fault finding
Programming/software:
• Machine fault finding through program analysis.
• PLC programming
• HMI design
• Remote support
Servicing/breakdown:
• Site support for customers
• Training customers
• Servicing machinery
• Responding to breakdowns both onsite and remotely
• Fault finding
Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure that all engineering activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Participate in safety training programs and maintain a safe work environment.
Training
The practical period is the time dedicated to the development of the knowledge, skills and behaviours for your apprenticeship which includes the following components;
• Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation
Competence)
• Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
• Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Technical Support
• Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
The apprenticeship will involve attending college during term time.
In year 1, day release is 3 days in-college and with regular work-based assessments conducted by the College Assessor. In Years 2 and 3, day release is 1 day in-college, then into the 4th year is workplace for End Point Assessment stage.
The goal of this role is to create a well-rounded electromechanical engineer that will compliment our team and help us to produce innovative automated equipment across a wide range of sectors, with career opportunities for the successful applicant.
