2nd Line IT Support Engineer

As a 2nd Line IT Support Engineer, you'll be tasked with resolving escalated queries and aiding 1st Line Support Engineers within the timeframes specified by 2nd Line SLAs established by the IT Manager. You'll maintain regular communication with peers to identify areas for process and service enhancements, collaborating with the IT Manager to enact these improvements. Analyzing system test outcomes will be essential for devising strategies to minimize business hour losses and enhance efficiencies. Monitoring network and service stability to mitigate issues with assets will also be a key responsibility. Additionally, you'll need to step into a leadership role in the absence of the IT Manager, setting an example for the team and serving as a point of escalation. Supporting the IT Manager in implementing new software, hardware, and project developments will also be part of your role.

Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 8:45-17:00, Friday 8:45-16:00.

2nd Line IT Support Engineer Requirements:

  • Microsoft 365 Office (Word, Excel, and Teams), Admin Centre (e.g. Security and Compliance)
  • Microsoft Windows 10 platform - troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Active Directory (ADDC – fault finding)
  • Microsoft Group Policy – development and improvement of current policies
  • Networking – DNS, IP, LAN/WAN, Switches and Patching – development and improvement with support/approval of IT Manager
  • Understanding when to escalate advance cases to the IT Manager when you have exhausted your knowledgebase (personal skills and documented shared knowledgebase)
  • Awareness of GDPR legislation
