Electrical Installation & Maintenance Apprentice at EDF Sizewell C Suffolk. September start
Our electrical apprentices support our qualified electricians in the installation, maintenance, operation and repair of electrical systems. Their role is to ensure as a team we ensure effective operation of electrical equipment. You'll be fully supported by our management and HR team throughout your apprenticeship.
Role
The successful apprentice will work under the supervision of an electrician and controls engineer and will learn how to:
- Read, interpret and create drawings, electrical code specifications to see layout of commercial electrical equipment installations
- Test electrical equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
- Install, repair or replace motors and drives, transformers, motors, starters, relays and hydraulic and gas electrical controls
Install, repair or replace electrical wiring, switch boxes, lighting and alternative electrical parts - Carry out preventative maintenance and testing of electrical systems
- Work on electrical faults
- Undertake tasks on heating and ventilation systems
- Comply with industry standards and procedures
- Attend college and be committed to your learning
Training
- As well as guided on the job training specific to our organisation you will study towards your level 3 Electrical Installation and Maintenance apprenticeship. You will attend college on day release during term time only
- A tutor will be assigned to you and you will receive protected study time within the workplace
- You will also get support from our apprenticeship team through mentoring and buddying
- Functional Skills in English and maths if required
