The Senior Business Analyst (Finance) will play a pivotal role within the Payments & Auto Pay Product Area. This team is dedicated to developing services that streamline payment processes. You'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of various payment scenarios, catering to both user needs and organizational financial requirements.

In accounting terms, this involves "double entry accounting" to cover all finance-related aspects of our services. This encompasses Payment-in-Arrears and Payment-In-Advance scenarios:

- Payment-in-Arrears: Accounting for transactions as they occur and processing periodic or ad-hoc payments upon receipt.
- Payment-In-Advance: Managing payments received and accounting for transactions, whether realized or not, including same-day payments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing administrative fees: Handling fees associated with service applications, discounts, and charge adjustments.
  • Processing charge payments: Managing payments received via various channels, whether received in advance, on the same day, or for past dates.
  • Facilitating charge payments through Auto Pay Services: Automating charge payments via direct debit or recurring card payments.
  • Handling rejected or cancelled payments: Addressing incomplete or cancelled payment transactions.
  • Managing reimbursements and refunds: Processing refunds for transactions.
  • Handling amendments, disputes, exemptions, and adjustments to accounting records.
  • Facilitating goodwill payments and managing unpaid transactions.
  • Handling debt payments, write-offs, and chargebacks.

Financial experience as a Senior Business Analyst:
  • Strong understanding of financial systems and processes, including knowledge of payment processing standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 20022, SWIFT).
  • Experience working with databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) for storing and retrieving financial data.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing payment solutions, preferably with experience in integrating them with SAP systems. This shall include familiarity with SAP modules related to financial management and integration methods (e.g., SAP PI/PO, SAP HANA)
  • Demonstrable experience in the development of a full Enterprise Resource Planning System e.g. SAP and working with Payment Provider Systems e.g. CyberSource
  • Experience in PCI compliant payment solutions
Excellent Requirements Engineering skills, including:
  • Eliciting concise business requirements for complex products within Public Sector environments, (that is: Financial Products, Digital Products, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and database systems), using a variety of techniques
  • Detailing stakeholder requirements in a variety of formats, including user stories and acceptance criteria, story maps, user journeys
  • Managing and tracking ongoing changes to requirements, using agreed change control processes where required
  • Ensuring traceability from high level requirements through to backlog items and other Agile artefacts for implementation
