Systems Engineering Degree Apprentice
Role
- Grow your knowledge of an engineering business and what the role of a Systems Engineer is by being part of our Integrated Project Teams.
- Develop practical skills in engineering and understanding key processes and technologies.
- Support early careers activities - our apprentices have the opportunity to work as STEM ambassadors in schools, colleges and universities.
- Design functional electronic systems from component level.
- Ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of basic health and safety principles both in the general workplace and specific to Systems Engineering
Training
As a Systems Engineering Degree Apprentice you will spend the first 2 years of your 3.5-year programme rotating through different projects to learn about systems engineering, the engineering lifecycle and developing your practical engineering skills. In your third year, you will join a specialist team of systems engineers and work within our Integrated Project Teams. During your placements you will work with experienced engineers to design and test new and existing products, using your new skills to solve problems, generate new ideas and support the development of the next generation of EW products.
You will also attend university on a mixture of day and block day release to complete your Embedded Electronics & Systems Design Apprenticeship (ST0151) which includes a BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree. Through your work placements you will record learning activities and evidence to show your competency in set criteria and in your final placement you will complete a project that forms part of your degree.
Completion of the Apprenticeship will be recognised by the relevant Professional Engineering Institutions.
