Job summary

Are you passionate about helping young people with mental health problems in an education based outreach service as part of the national Mental Health Support Team programme?

This is an opportunity to work as part of an innovative, expanding early intervention team delivering CBT informed interventions in education setting across Manchester. We are looking for registered professionals including, registered and accredited CBT therapists ideally with an interest/experience in team leadership and supervision.

Manchester Thrive in Education are a Mental Health Support Team who work with Children, Young People and Families aged up to 18 years and who present with a wide range of mental health difficulties. This service is provided across the city in a variety of educational settings including further education colleges, the office base is at the Powerhouse Moss Side, Manchester.We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner who is able to work autonomously at Band 7, within a multi-disciplinary team. You must have significant and demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable people and families, who present with mental health needs and often risk to self and or others. The role involves team leader responsibilities to support the service manager and line management/clinical supervision of team members including trainee EMHPs.

Main duties of the job

You must have a working knowledge of CAMHS and or adult mental health and have an understanding of assessing mental health needs and levels of risk, including safeguarding and self-harm. You must have a demonstrable range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role and be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines and a structured supervision framework. Experience of delivering and a qualification CBT IAPT interventions and supervision of low intensity practitioners is desirable.

You will manage your own caseload, providing a range of high quality care appropriate to the child or young person's needs which will include; mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation and therapeutic interventions. You will also be required to complete team leader duties, offer supervision to team members at all levels. Including consultation and training to education colleagues and support to improve the whole setting approach to mental health.

You must be confident and experienced in communication, due to the high level of liaison needed between MTiE and other services and be willing to work flexible hours in accordance with the needs of the young people and education settings.This post is a clinical post and the expectation of time management is that the majority of time will be spent in face to face clinical practice.

Qualifications

  • You must have a recognised qualification in: RMN/RSCN/RNMH/Clinical Psychology/Social Work/Occupational Therapy/SALT/CBT PG Diploma
Desirable
  • PG Qualification in Therapeutic modality
  • Mentorship course ENB998 or equivalent
  • Low intensity/CBT supervision qualification
  • Relevant Post grad/masters

Experience

Essential
  • Proven extensive experience of working effectively with people with mental health difficulties
  • Extensive experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding
  • Extensive experience of providing evidenced based assessments, formulations and treatment packages to children, young people and families
  • Extensive experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies
  • Extensive experience of caseload management working within a multi-disciplinary mental health setting
  • Community mental health experience
  • Experience or qualification in CBT or low intensity CBT informed supervision
  • Demonstrable understanding of Clinical Governance
Desirable
  • 3 years post qualification experience of a specific therapy working in Child/Adult Mental Health
