Business Analyst Apprentice
Business Analysts are respected for their ability to analyse problems, develop solutions, and bridge the gap between technical and non-technical staff. The Business Analyst helps to make sure that organisations don’t waste money and time on projects or investments that don’t meet organisation or customer needs.
Role
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Stakeholders at all levels across NFUM to enable the effective negotiation and delivery of Business Analysis services.
- With appropriate supervision from an experienced Business Analyst, engage with Stakeholders to understand the need for and delivery of business change in line with their requirements.
- Manage the Stakeholders’ expectations by producing the appropriate analysis deliverables for specific and defined pieces of change, ensuring project and business objectives are met and that defined and agreed scope is controlled.
- Produce work packages, estimates and analysis plans that reflect the scope of the analysis work required and identify key dependencies. Agree these with Stakeholders to ensure scope of activity is documented and work can commence.
- Monitor the delivery of work packages and communicate progress to the responsible Business Analyst or Business Analysis Manager to ensure project and business objectives are met and scope or timeline changes are identified.
- Work with experienced Business Analysts or Lead Business Analysts to model the As-Is and the To-Be business processes to aid the understanding of changes and their impact.
- Exercise and develop analytical skills in the elicitation, validation, prioritisation and documentation of accurate business and system requirements in a manner that is concise, trace-able and flexible to enable the correct solution to be identified/ developed.
- Review, evaluate and support solutions to ensure that they meet the requirements and specifications in line with IT Governance Standards. Escalate any areas of non-compliance with the Lead Business Analyst or Business Analysis Manager.
- Complete the actions, training and assessments within the Business Analyst Apprenticeship scheme in line with relevant timescale to continually develop to achieve professional and personal skills to the level and standards required to successfully progress from the apprenticeship scheme.
- Deliver short term/one off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with line manager.
Training
Apprentices will work towards the level 4 Business analyst apprenticeship standard. The programme includes:
- Formal course attendance (3 x 3 day, 1 x 2 day and 2 x 1 day courses – total 13 days)
- Directed online learning (ongoing availability)
- Dedicated mentor input and support
- Directed self-study and task assignment/review
- Deliberate practice
- Assessment guidance and preparation
The programme will complement any formal employer training which, when combined, makes-up the required 20% of “off-the-job” training.
This is the highest level of apprenticeship on offer in this field of work and is equivalent to a Foundation Degree. The scheme is designed to fully support you professionally, giving you hands on work experience, supplemented with a professional study programme. Many apprentices go on to obtain the International Diploma in Business Analysis.
