Web Developer

We are excited to support our well-established client, an independent wholesaler, in their search for a Web Developer for their site near Margate in Kent. Local candidates will be viewed favourably.

Please note, this is a purely on-site role - there is NO hybrid element in this position.

As a Web Developer, you will work closely with the Lead Web Developer and cross-functional teams to design, develop, & maintain the web applications. You will be responsible for implementing high-quality web solutions that meet business objectives. This will involve a range of both front & back-end UI/UX design & the procedural code to accomplish the task. The systems & procedures that will be developed may be relevant to roles outside of the System Department, and therefore, it is essential to be able to develop an understanding of broader business practices to build solutions.

Salary is £30,000 per annum and, as such, we expect to hear from slightly more junior Web Developers, as long as they have experience as detailed below. Benefits include life assurance, auto enrolment pension, ability to purchase products at cost price, & annual leave increases with service.

Duties to include:

  • Collaborate with the Lead Web Developer and cross-functional teams to gather project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain responsive and user-friendly web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other modern web technologies leveraging Azure services (App Services, Functions, Storage, etc.), Amazon Web Services, Or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Implement front-end designs provided by UX/UI designers, ensuring pixel-perfect accuracy and consistent user experiences across different browsers and devices.
  • Build and integrate server-side functionalities using programming languages like PHP, Python, Node.js, & work with databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server) to store & retrieve data.
  • Build & maintain well-structured/secure RESTful APIs to power data exchange & integrations.
  • Write clean, efficient, reusable code, following coding best practices and coding standards.
  • Conduct testing of web applications, identify/fix bugs, ensure optimal performance & functionality. Optimize web applications and APIs for cloud performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing support and maintenance for existing web applications.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging web technologies.
  • Assist in project planning, task estimation, & participate in Agile development processes.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered. Proven experience as a Web Developer.
  • Proficiency in front-end development languages and frameworks such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and experience with libraries like React, Angular, Vue.js, and Ionic.
  • Proficiency with server-side programming languages like PHP, Python, or Node.js, and experience working with databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git), & Azure cloud services & architecture or other cloud platforms.
  • Expertise in developing RESTful APIs using tech like ASP.NET Core Web API or Node.js.
  • Understanding of responsive web design, cross-browser compatibility, and web performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with version control systems, eg Git, & Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with focus on delivering pixel-perfect designs and code quality.
