Senior Network Engineer

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be working as part of a team responsible for supporting and developing data centre and service provider networks. Your role will be critical in designing, implementing and maintaining these complex network infrastructures to ensure high availability, performance and security. Additionally, you'll be responsible for delivering and supporting dedicated customer data centre, cloud and enterprise network solutions.

The Senior Network Engineer will also be an escalation point for DataVita Service Desk’s Third Line engineers, to help with incident resolution and operational support.

The role is customer-facing, and as a technical lead for delivery and support, you will be expected to work closely with customers, end users, and technical partners.

The role is, therefore, a mixture of project delivery and BAU support.

You will have at least 5 years of experience in supporting and managing complex enterprise networks with additional experience in data centre networks. Service provider network experience would be advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Deployment, BAU support and ongoing development of service provider, multi-tenant data centre and customer networks.
  • Deployment, support and development of customer enterprise networks.
  • Aiding Architects in defining customer requirements and producing customer designs for new projects
  • Escalation for network related incidents and faults.
  • Taking ownership of incidents and driving to fault resolution.
  • Raising and presenting required network changes at internal and customer change boards.
  • Lead or work as part of a team, which may be onsite, virtual, and multi- functional, helping to address complex issues.

Core Technical Skills:

  • CCNA/CCNP or equivalent level of experience with a strong understanding of networking protocols. BGP

  • VPN Technologies
  • HSRP, VRRP
  • STP
  • Vlans, 802.1q etc
  • IPv4 / Radius / TACACS / AAA
  • Fortinet NSE4-6, Fortinet Certified Associate and Fortinet Certified Professional, or equivalent experience also considered relevant for the post.

The nature of the job will require evening and nighttime work when making major changes on our network on occasion.
