Net Developer

42.

It’s the answer to the “ultimate question of life, the universe and everything”—well, at least according to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

You didn’t ask to be born, but here you are, and the meaning of life is whatever you want it to be.

How will you find meaning in your life and make a difference?

As a .NET Developer, your skills can change lives and whole industries, but many of you get bogged down in developing stuff that doesn’t change anything except your company's profits.

Instead, help the UK and the world plot a greener future and achieve the ambitious Paris Agreement target of net zero by 2050, which over 140 countries set in 2016.

You’d join a team of 20, made up of 6-7 .NET Developers, consultants, data analysts, and environmentalists, part of a wider 105-person company that advises the government and organisations like Ofgem and National Grid on navigating an ever-changing energy puzzle.

For example, this team recently consulted the government on pricing energy based on location zones instead of nationally. They built a model from scratch, and their published analysis revealed a possible £5-£15 billion in benefits for the British electricity system and households.

You’d mainly work on tackling new problems and solving them with new technology, developing complex energy models to give clients a 360-degree view of the energy market so they can make data-driven decisions on their journey to net zero.

You’ll engage with clients and stakeholders, design and code solutions, and enjoy considerable autonomy in achieving the strategic goals.

You’ll help the team move all their models, software, and processes into Azure and find ways to expand their products and models across Europe and Japan.

You’ll enjoy a 35-hour working week and a benefits package reflecting the level of fairness and care this company is known for.

Lastly, inclusivity is more than just a PR soundbite. For example, they achieved 13 DEI awards in the last five years and their LGBT+, women's, multicultural and well-being networks tackle significant issues and unite their people.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

This role is perfect for a mid to senior-level .NET Developer keen to take on more responsibility.

You’ll have experience with Microsoft Azure and its services and tools, with Azure DevOps experience at the very least.

You’ll be interested in the energy sector and making the world greener, but bonus points if you’ve worked in energy.
