EPR Head of Technical

Job summary

Sherwood Forest Hospitals are at the beginning of our EPR journey and will be selecting our suppliers during Q3 2024/25.

We want a Head of Technical to join us and support our EPR journey. This is an exciting role and the successful candidate will be able to shape and support our journey whilst working closely with other departments across the Trust.

The post will report to the Deputy Chief Digital Information Officer/EPR Programme Director, and will be part of the senior management team for the EPR programme alongside the Head of Applications, Head of Operational Change and Head of People to deliver a successful EPR implementation.

The Head of Technical is responsible for four key workstreams for the programme covering,

  • Testing,
  • Integration,
  • Data Migration and
  • Infrastructure Readiness.

We are looking for a knowledgeable individual in technical delivery of an EPR/digital solutions who is talented, enthusiastic and driven. The EPR programme will ultimately transform the future of healthcare delivery across our hospitals for the benefit of the patients we serve.

Working as key member of our EPR Programme team you will drive transformational change across our hospitals to deliver successful and wide engagement with our EPR programme, ensuring that the intended benefits of the programme can be fully realised.

Main duties of the job

Managing the overall workstreams for testing, integration, data migration and infrastructure readiness ensuring coordinated plans are in place through a coordinating project/programme management approach

Manage the staff within the portfolio including a mix of existing staff, fixed terms and third-party providers to deliver an effective EPR solution

Manage the £1.5m+ budget for the technical workstreams for the programmes

Advising and providing recommendations to the EPR Programme Board/Trust Board on data migration approach and other areas as required.

Support the PMO in ensuring highlight reports are produced, risks managed and financial management is in place

Undertaking additional, specific programme work in support of the EPR programme under the direction of the Programme Director and alongside the process design, change management and transformation/benefits leads across the programme.

Working with the Head of EPR applications to ensure configuration, decision support and working processes are integrated across the implementation.

  • Working with clinical digital leads to ensure requirements are understood prior to developing technical solution.

Knowledge

Essential
  • Knowledge of NHS interoperability agenda across the ICS and national requirements
  • Knowledge of TOGAF principles
  • Knowledge of EPR projects, suppliers, and requirements
  • Integration architecture understanding.
  • Knowledge of related local and national strategies and policies
  • Expert knowledge and application of a wide range of recognised Development Methodologies (e.g., Agile, SCRUM, RAD, SSADM, MOSCOW Analysis, Time box developments, DSDM)
  • Awareness of the non-functional environment for clinical systems (physical working locations, 24/7 operations, information governance, legal requirements, etc.).

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to master's level in relevant IT related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing education and development
  • Certification or substantial demonstrable working knowledge of an appropriate enterprise architecture methodology or Framework such as TOGAF
  • Certification or demonstrable working knowledge of associated frameworks or methodologies (e.g., ITIL, PRINCE2, MSP, UML etc.)
Desirable
  • Postgraduate management qualification or demonstrable skills in management gained through experience.
  • Professional qualification in at least one technical discipline (such as MCSD, CCNA, MCSE, VCA)

  • Significant experience in solution d evelopment

  • Delivery of complex programmes of work using the PRINCE methodology
  • Procurement and delivery Information systems
  • Production of Information Strategies/Business Cases/Option Appraisals
  • Line management of large digital teams
  • Change Management experience
  • Extensive experience working in a digital capacity in a health care setting.
  • Experience in Microsoft enterprise tools (e.g., SharePoint Dynamics, BizTalk, SQL Server, .NET etc.) an d Messaging Services HL7, XML, FIHR.
  • Experience in: Cisco network design, data -centre design, virtualisation technologies, telephony, and real -time communication systems (such as bleeps).
  • Has experience of vendor management and negotiation.
