Cardiothoracic Surgery Information Administrator

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, organised and enthusiastic person to come and join our Cardio thoracic theatre team in the James Cook University Hospital. The candidate should have experience of working with advanced IT systems as they will be responsible for inputting, analysing and presenting data. They will also work alongside the theatre management team and be responsible for stock management and general administration duties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide comprehensive administration and information technology support to the Cardio thoracic Theatre Manager and the multidisciplinary team. They will be responsible for ensuring that all essential data is collected, validated, interpreted, and reported in a regular and timely manner for submission to Trust and any external agencies. They will provide complex analysis on the data for appropriate requests, whilst liaising and negotiating independently with other departments and external agencies where necessary.

The post holder will also provide a comprehensive, effective, and professional resource in the management of stock control and general administration.

The Cardiothoracic Theatres Suite comprises of three operating theatres, which specialise in both Cardiac and Thoracic surgery. We perform cutting edge heart and lung cancer surgery, including minimally invasive heart valve surgery, video assisted and robotic lobectomies. We pride ourselves in delivering high quality patient care and are committed to providing continual personal and professional development.

The Cardiothoracic unit at the James Cook University Hospital is a specialised service stretching from Whitehaven in Cumbria to North Yorkshire, Teesside and Durham. We are a centre for lung cancer and the focus of the cancer care alliance of Teesside, South Durham and Yorkshire. We have also recently been awarded funding to develop a leading Pectus Correction Centre.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the New and Aspiring leaders programme, and the Foundation Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. After you complete this one and a half day of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

Qualifications

Essential
  • oKnowledge of administration procedures and systems, acquired through training and experience to Vocational Level 3 or equivalent.

Experience

  • oAdministration experience in an equivalent setting.
  • oExtensive use of Office and Outlook including word, excel and PowerPoint, e-mail and internet.
Desirable
  • oHealthcare/NHS Trust experience.
