Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

Job summary

We have a great opportunity for an aspiring data analyst to come and join SWAST Data Analytics and Insight team. You will be working alongside other data professionals internally and external from the Trust, and will be involved in leading on ambulance service data analytics.

The successful candidate will be based at our HQ in Exeter on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of 1 day to be expected in the office every 2 weeks.

Reporting to the Continual Improvement Manager, you will be responsible for data manipulation and analytical services, including maintaining the Trust ETL process; importing data; optimizing existing reports and processes, using the Microsoft SQL Server technology stack.

Experience of Power BI, Azure Dev Ops, Microsoft Fabric is helpful but not essential, although experience of NHS System will be of a great benefit. If you are looking for your next step up in your career, to work in a challenging and fast paced environment, we would love to hear from you!

Main duties of the job

You will be working within the Data Analytics and Insight department, alongside the Business Intelligence Projects team and other relevant functions, to support the local, regional and national reporting requirements of the Trust.

This will include:

  • Maintaining effective relationships with system users and Trust partners to support the development, maintenance and monitoring / analysis of operational process activity and system interaction.
  • Helping to maintain the existing data warehouse solutions, as well as Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, and legacy .Net reporting.
  • Using ambulance service data, operational systems and expert analysis to support data quality and evidence-based decision making.
  • Playing a pivotal role in team activity and road map direction, including collaborating with team members to help with ongoing challenges.
  • Maintaining existing knowledge and skills , as well as developing on new technology, to support the ongoing demand of the trust.
  • Maintaining Trust standards of code on Visual Studio, and performing peer reviews of individuals work.
  • Using expert knowledge and skills to support members of the team, providing effective resilience when needed.

Education & qualifications

Essential
  • Qualified to Degree level in Information System Development or an IT related subject or extensive experience in the field
  • Current Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
  • Prince II Foundation/Practitioner

Previous experience

Essential
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including TSQL, Stored Procedures and functions with a significant experience designing and developing scalable relational databases
Desirable
  • Experience of Microsoft Sharepoint and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services integration
  • Experience of Microsoft365
  • Experience of Web Development in .NET
