The overall purpose of the Technical Manager is to lead a team building and delivering industry leading, robust, extensible and innovative retail data insight solutions. This includes project management, agile coaching and leadership, technical design, mentoring and line management.
Architecture & Design
-Work with architecture group to design and implement robust, scalable and performant solutions that can be rapidly deployed to multiple international markets
-Be self-starting in undertaking analysis and development tasks
-Work collaboratively with internal clients to understand design concepts and advise how they can best be implemented technically
-Deliver and oversee the delivery of software solutions which are well-factored, clean and delivered to a high degree of quality
-Foster technical best practices from agile software development ' e.g. use of unit and integration tests (including TDD / BDD), continuous integration
-Review code with team members and coach team members to achieve excellence in software development standards.
Software Tools and Processes
-Enhance and improve all aspects of delivery processes, and establish unified processes in collaboration with other software development team leaders
-When required, manage source control, continuous integration and testing tools appropriate to the environment
-Be accountable for the on time and on budget delivery of EYC solutions, engaging and driving throughout the development life cycle - including initial analysis, implementation, integration, testing, debugging and support
-Facilitate and coach at all stages of the agile development process, including planning, stand-up, showcase and retrospective sessions ' using techniques from Scrum and Lean/Kanban as appropriate
-Contribute to internal process and system improvements in order to ensure maximum efficiency across the company
-Support cross-team collaboration initiatives to unify products, services and processes
Planning & Documentation
-Support the creation of technical design and support documentation as required
-Present solutions to professional peers as required
-Review changes in code and the environment that will affect system performance
-Create business cases for the adoption of new software tools when required
Leadership & People Management
-Line manage a team of software developers at all levels
-Assist in the definition and application of and consistent standards and approaches throughout the team
-Promote a culture of knowledge sharing at EYC.
-Help to create a culture of promoting new ideas and opportunities within the team for our clients. Encourage openness and proactivity in all engagements with both customer-facing and other internal teams.
-Significant and demonstrable experience leading software delivery projects of medium complexity (~10 developers, multiple integrated technologies, multi-year programmers of work)
-Hands-on leadership experience in agile (XP / Scrum / Kanban) development environments
-Formal project management experience
-Software development experience with .net technology stack
-Experience designing and optimising RDBMS or analytical databases
-Analytical software development experience
-Experience with vector / columnar databases
-Experience with Angular.js / HTML / CSS
-UI/UX design experience
