Engineering Support Technician Apprentice

Teledyne Defence & Space are looking for dynamic people to join their ever-growing team of highly skilled engineers in Bradford. To enhance their highly skilled staff, they are looking for apprentices to gain exposure to a range of operations processes. Role

The role is to provide support across all key areas of Operations including assembly, testing, analysis tools, process control, performance and continuous improvement solutions, quality control, and inspection as required.

During the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will get broad exposure to a range of Operations processes, including;

  • Hand assembly of electronic devices using soldering, epoxy and bonding techniques.
  • Working to process specifications, manufacturing instructions and required standards as determined by the product design.
  • To highlight and solve problems as they arise during the testing phase
  • To complete test documentation accurately.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and any new working initiatives.
  • Identify improvement activities and implement solutions where possible.
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by a member of Operations management.

Training

  • Engineering Technician - Technical Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard
  • Year 1 - 1 Day a week at Appris Training Centre, Bradford: BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence - Electrical)
  • Year 2 & 3 - 1 Day a week at Appris Training Centre, Bradford: BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge - Electrical)
  • Year 2 to Year 4 - Workplace qualification: EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Technical Support Technician (Quality).
  • Internal training, development and mentoring with highly skilled engineers in a variety of project and support-based areas and other engineering-related duties and requirements. 
  • In your 4th Year you will continue to work towards your occupational competency in engineering and prepare for independent end-point assessments.
  • Successful apprentices can look forward to further learning and development, which can lead to internal promotion and increased pay. Many apprentices go on to study degrees.
