Apprentice Digital Printer
Excellent opportunity working for an established label printing company based in Netherton, West Midlands. You will be working in a small team within our rapidly growing digital department producing a wide range of labels including asset labels, security labels, warehouse labels, barcode labels, cable labels.
Role
We manufacture labels for a broad range of industries including; automotive, equipment hire, pharmaceutical, sales and service, arts and entertainment, warehouse and distribution. You will learn to operate Roland printers and various plotter machines and use multiple software packages including Adobe, Versaworks and Colorgate. Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Preparing print files using Adobe software
- Follow a job list/production plan, set printers running
- Colour matching and quality checking samples
- Keeping a check on job progress, checking continuous quality and ink levels
- Hand finishing labels into sheets
- Packing jobs ready for despatch
- Machine maintenance
- Operate plotter tables
- Trouble shooting and problem solving
- Laminating material constructions
- Completing product specification sheets and updating company database
- Stock control of materials and inks
- Liaising with office via email/telephone
Training
- Full training will be provided in-house alongside a Level 3 Print Technician qualification delivered by BPIF Training.
- The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their "off-the-job" requirement of the apprenticeship during their working hours.
- Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both your employer and BPIF Training to achieve the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the apprenticeship through a structured training plan.
- You will be assigned a training coordinator who will work with you throughout your apprenticeship to ensure that you have the best training and support available.
- Most training and studying will be a combination of regular site-based visits at the employer's premises and occasional remote delivery.
- Upon completion of the apprenticeship there will be a full-time role working as a print technician in our wide format digital department.
