IT Technician Apprentice

A wonderful opportunity for an aspiring IT Technician has presented itself within a highly regarded academy trust consisting of Herschel Grammar and Beechwood Schools. You will be instrumental to the organisation as you provide first line support to users and systems supporting teaching and learning across the Trust Schools.

Role

Main purpose of the role:

  • Providing first line support to users and systems to support teaching and learning across the Trust schools.
  • Maintenance of the schools’ IT systems including hardware, software and peripherals.
  • To provide solutions to problems resolving issues that are logged on the schools’ IT Support ticketing system.

Main Duties:

  • Carry out regular checks around school to ensure equipment is correctly functioning and is safe for use.
  • Replace consumables and parts as required (e.g. toner cartridges, missing keyboard keys, PC parts,
    damaged screens, cables and mice).
  • Undertake filter cleaning of projectors and the replacement of projector bulbs around school.
  • Audits of equipment as and when required around school.
  • To undertake PC repairs in liaison with the Senior IT Technician/Network Manager for best possible
    solutions on hardware repairs.
  • Liaising with staff around school if they are having IT issues and offering sensible solutions to problems.
  • Setting up IT elements ready for events (i.e. sound, visual, projector).
  • Helping resolve software issues where necessary.
  • In liaison with the Senior IT Technician installing software on PC’s where necessary.
  • Resetting user passwords for both students and staff.
  • Ensure the correct disposal is made for faulty/’out of life’ IT and electronic equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving printer issues around school (paper tray settings, unjamming paper etc).

Requirements:

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths & English (Grade C/4) essential
  • Other IT/Computing (Grade Level 3) desirable

Due to funding restrictions, please be advised those with IT/Computing Level 3 can only take this apprenticeship providing the course will teach you new skills. Eligibility will be assessed prior to beginning the apprenticeship.

Training

  • Level 3 ICT qualification
  • All training is undertaken online, through a combination of self-paced eLearning and live online classes
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
  • There may be a full time role available following successful completion of this apprenticeship
