We are offering a Senior BI Developer position to join our Information and BI team. As part of this role, you will Support the Head of Information and BI in the delivery of the Performance Management reporting using skills in relational databases, SQL Server, and Business Intelligence (BI). You will develop, analyse, and interpret business and performance information to ensure the accurate and timely production of reports and dashboards as per the requirements both internally and externally. You will also be responsible for delivering the build of data tables and identify and address the continued development and maintenance of the Data Warehouse.

Main duties of the job

To develop dashboards and reports using Business Intelligence tools, such as Power BI and SSRS. The role will also be to develop, implement and maintain systems to ensure the efficient and effective collection of all performance management data and wider business intelligence.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will Support the Head of Digital Intelligence in the delivery of the Performance Management aspects of the Trusts IM&T Strategy using skills in relational databases, SQL Server, and Business Intelligence (BI). They will develop and analyse and interpret business and performance information to ensure the accurate and timely production of reports and dashboards as per the requirements both internally and externally.

To develop dashboards and reports using Business Intelligence tools, primarily SSRS. The role will also be to develop, implement and maintain systems to ensure the efficient and effective collection of all performance management data and wider business intelligence.

Responsible for delivering the build of data tables and identify and address the continued development and maintenance of the Data Warehouse.

The post holder will manage the Junior Information Analysts workload and be responsible for the development of their skill set and any HR issues such as sickness or disciplinary

The post holder will be responsible for documenting all work and ensuring that wikis are created for each package of work and that other members of the team can understand the process

The post holder will be responsible for planning and delivering the B.I Strategy for the trust in conjunction with the Head of Department

The post holder will attend regular meetings to present highly complex, specialist analysis to a variety of audiences including Senior Managers and the Executive Team.

The post holder will be expected to work autonomously, be innovative, delivering work to a high standard within tight deadlines.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To play a lead role in the development of business intelligence reports to meet the aims of the Business Intelligence Strategy and the needs of the organisation.

Take an instigative role in ensuring that wherever practical and appropriate the Data Warehouse is developed to enable greater and wider use of data / information for Business Intelligence and SLR. This will involve working closely with other developers to ensure co-ordination of developments on the data warehouse.

Work with users to resolve problems and issues with Business Intelligence software.

Aid in the provision of timely and quality assured Monthly Management Information and statutory Korner returns to Management, Department of Health and CCGs.

To be aware of national developments within the NHS wider Business Intelligence community.

To develop reporting integration solutions between multiple operational systems using the SQL.

Assist when required to ensure the timely completion of mandatory quarterly and annual returns for the Department of Health.

Autonomy to act upon, implement and advise where appropriate on new Data Set Change Notices (DSCN) issued by the Department of Health.

Research and recommend innovation, and where possible automated approaches for systems including BI.

Supervisory responsibilities over junior members in the team

Participate in the use of Trusts reporting tools and to develop an EIS for the Trusts Management Staff & train potential users.

Liaison with external agencies to identify and meet their Information requirements.

To assist with adding content to and maintaining the online Business

Intelligence system.

Ensure all departmental documentation is kept up-to-date as possible.

Support the Trusts Committee structure with its information requirements.

Participate at the Trusts Information management Groups as required, and play a key role in the resolution of information issues raised there.

Database design & support to meet users information needs outside of standard Trust systems.

Maintain awareness of national & local IM&T strategies.

Participate in own personal development review and undertake own professional development.

Manage the Junior B.I Member of the teams workload and be responsible for their development

Will be required to deliver projects to timescales and delivery change within 12months

Qualifications

Essential
  • Masters degree or relevant training or experience in information/sql development/business intelligence field
  • Evidence of professional development
  • IT qualification.
Desirable
  • Working towards a Post-Graduate Degree in a relevant subject.
  • Project Management qualification (such as Prince2)
  • Microsoft SQL Certification

Experience

Essential
  • Minimum of 3 Years Experience writing SQL
  • Experience Managing/supervising junior members of team
  • Experience using Microsoft SQL Server BI Stack
  • Experience within the Business Intelligence field.
  • Experience of Assisting, Capturing and Documenting Customer Requirements.
  • Experience of Identifying, Managing or Communicating Data Quality Issues.
  • Experience of web based Business Intelligence reporting software
  • Planning, creation and implementation of software developments ideally within a data warehouse
  • System design, Data Programming, facilitating Validation
  • Track record of developing information outputs through assessment and use of the most efficient analytical tools
