Purchasing Assistant Apprentice

As Purchasing Assistant Apprentice your responsibilities will include purchasing goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company sales and operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.

Role

  • Understand, implement, and adhere to all relevant procedures included in the company's Quality Management System
  • Become conversant with the part numbers, descriptions and application of the company's products and parts
  • Become conversant with the capabilities of all assigned suppliers
  • Prepare and raise/edit all required purchase orders in line with both the customer requirements and stock holding targets
  • Investigate stock discrepancies, make recommendations for any necessary procedural changes to eliminate recurrence; update computer records as appropriate
  • Participate in the physical inventory of material and product stocks for accounts or control purposes; help investigate and review discrepancies between physical and computer inventory
  • Expedite all purchase orders with suppliers ensuring schedule adherence is in line with the business requirements
  • Assist the Purchasing Supervisor to monitor cost of materials, parts, and products
  • Attend meetings, conferences, seminars, and training sessions as required
  • Assist with the auditing of suppliers
  • Continually monitor the performance of suppliers
  • Maintain up to date records of suppliers on the company’s ERP system
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous business improvement
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships

Training

  • The apprentice will be working towards the Procurement and Supply Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard which includes an Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations qualification
  • All delivery is online
  • After any apprenticeship, we endeavour to find suitable employment within the business where possible to continue the individual’s careers with us
