Senior Information Analyst

Job summary

The Senior Information Analyst will be required to lead on one of clinical divisions or functional areas within the Trust particularly around the Trust's Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), Community as well as Acute care reporting. The post holder will take responsibility for specific areas of reporting as assigned related to the monitoring of activity, performance, data quality and internal as well as external data submissions. The senior analyst will therefore develop expertise within these specific areas but will also be expected to understand all areas of reporting within the Information Team to provide cover when needed. The post holder will be expected to develop various reports and help end-users of the reports to analyse and interpret the information.

  1. Analyse Trust data sources to provide internal routine reports based on standard procedures including the development and maintenance of Trust/Divisional dashboards and other reports. This may involve manipulating and analysing data from multiple sources.
  2. Have the primary responsibility to meet CDC, Community and Acute care reporting requirements whilst opportunities will be made to develop other areas of reporting the team is responsible for.
  3. Develop and document new procedures to adapt to changing Trust requirements and technology infrastructure.

  1. Develop and provide specialist and expert knowledge for divisional or functional area.
  2. Participate in Board meetings, projects and relevant working groups by presenting and interpreting activity and performance information.
  3. Represent the interests of the division in information related IM&T developments.
  4. Promote the understanding of presentation and analysis techniques such as Statistical Process Control.
  5. Develop reports using the Trusts Business Intelligence tools that include Power BI, Business Objects as well as Microsofts SQL BI tools.
  6. End-user support for software including Excel, Access, Business Objects (reports), Power BI, and other tools as required.
  7. Identify areas where information provision is inadequate and suggest/develop strategies and solutions to provide effective management information.
  8. Develop information systems where necessary to agreed user specifications; providing ongoing training, advice and support to end-users.

Education/Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in a numeric subject

Knowledge & Experience

Essential
  • Significant experience in management information in the NHS or relevant experience in a similar role in a large organisation.
  • Knowledge of NHS Information systems, data models and the current NHS performance management structure
  • Database and spreadsheet applications e.g. MS SQL and Excel
  • Support for performance management and service improvement
  • Knowledge of basic statistical methods and analysis of relational dataset
  • Working with end users of information systems and presenting data as clear and concise information
  • Proven experience in Power BI development and data visualisation.
  • Experience and knowledge of diagnostics, general acute and community data sets.
