Software Engineer (Modelling & Simulation) | Python / C++ | Salary Up to £70,000 | SC Clearance Required | Portsmouth (Hybrid 2-3 Days per Week) | 1 Stage Interview Process

Yolk Recruitment are working with a Global Defence Company looking to grow their Modelling & Simulation Software Engineering team. They're searching for an experience Software Engineer holding SC Clearance to join on client site in Portsmouth.

If successful you will join an experienced team working on the development of innovative & modern modelling & Simulation technology for UK defence clients. They develop mainly in Python & C++, to be successful you will need strong experience programming backend solutions in at least 1 of those languages as well as exposure to Systems Engineering concepts such as requirements definition, requirements analysis, functional design/decomposition, enterprise modelling, test & acceptance.

They operate hybrid working with 2-3 days onsite in the Portsmouth area, less if the project allows.

This is what you will be doing:

• Development of constructive and real-time Modelling and Simulation (M&S) models and scenarios using a combination of Python, C++ and custom scripting languages using object-oriented design techniques
• Visualise analytical data extracted from these models
• Work closely with the customer to develop threat laydowns and simulation capabilities representing advanced weapon system concepts, and implement those concepts.
• Frequent communication across the engineering disciplines/technology areas with internal stakeholders and external customers.

The experience you will bring to the team:

• Experience in object-orientated software design and programming using Python and C++ (or similar languages).
• General knowledge of real-time target environments, including processor and network architectures, communication protocols and simulation frameworks.
• Proven experience in design, development, test and integration of quality software.
• General Systems Engineering skills (requirements definition, requirements analysis, functional design/decomposition, enterprise modelling, test & acceptance).
• Active SC security clearance.
