Methodology Update Announcement

Between 2004 and 2017 the number of IT job vacancies quoting a pay range (as opposed to a specific salary or day rate) increased from 50% to 80% of job adverts surveyed.
In recognition of this trend, we have updated the methodology we employ to calculate percentiles* in order to enhance the accuracy of our salary distribution statistics.
This new methodology will be employed for all future analysis, and for consistency, has also been used to recalculate the percentiles* of all historical data - the results of this process are now available at www.itjobswatch.co.uk
* It should be noted that this update does not affect the median or mean salaries / contractor rates previously published, however it will improve the accuracy of salary distribution analysis, namely the 10th, 25th, 75th and 90th percentiles.
