Software Developer
Full Stack Software Developer
React · Node.js · AI-assisted development
Salary: £40,000–£50,000
Location: Fully remote within the UK
Hours: Full-time
Vacancies: Two positions
Start date: As soon as possible
We’re working with a growing cyber security business looking for two Software Developers to build and improve web applications that help organisations protect their systems and data.
You’ll work across the full stack, developing React interfaces and Node.js services, with scope to influence technical decisions and improve how software is delivered. Application security and the effective use of AI will be central to your work.
The role
You’ll take ownership of development tasks from understanding the requirement through to delivering reliable, maintainable code. Working alongside colleagues across development, product and design, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing responsive front-end applications using React.
- Building back-end services and RESTful APIs with Node.js.
- Working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Writing clear, well-documented JavaScript that other developers can maintain.
- Identifying security weaknesses and building appropriate safeguards into applications.
- Investigating bugs and resolving issues across the stack.
- Taking part in code reviews and contributing to architectural decisions.
- Improving development workflows, including the responsible use of AI tools.
What we’re looking for
You’ll have around 3–4 years or more of commercial JavaScript development experience, with strong practical skills in React and Node.js.
You’ll also bring:
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with databases.
- A sound understanding of authentication, authorisation, data protection and common application vulnerabilities, including OWASP principles.
- Confidence using Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Clear communication and a willingness to give and receive constructive feedback.
- A habit of taking responsibility for the quality and completion of your work.
Practical AI experience is essential
You should already use AI-assisted development tools as part of your working process and be able to explain where they add value, where they fall short and how you check their output.
We’re looking for experience applying AI to coding, debugging, testing, documentation and technical problem-solving, supported by an understanding of:
- Large language models, prompting and the role of context.
- Model limitations and the risks of incorrect or unreliable outputs.
- Reviewing and validating generated code for correctness, maintainability and security.
- Protecting confidential information and handling data appropriately when using AI tools.
You’ll be asked to discuss examples of how you have used AI in development and the judgement you applied when using its suggestions.
Useful additional experience
The following would be beneficial, but aren’t essential:
- TypeScript.
- Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Docker or Kubernetes.
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Benefits
- Fully remote working within the UK.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- £5,000 annual development budget for training and exams.
- Workplace pension.
- A company-provided device.
Interview process
Following an initial conversation with your recruiter, the process has four stages:
- An introductory interview covering your experience, motivations, working style and familiarity with AI.
- A technical discussion exploring software development, application security and practical AI use.
- A development exercise assessing code quality, problem-solving and technical judgement.
- A final face-to-face interview in London.
