Software Engineer (12-Month FTC) – Hybrid
Location: Hybrid – 1 day per week in Leeds or Manchester office
Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract (FTC) – with potential to extend
Clearance Requirement: BPSS eligibility is essential
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with strong backend development skills and cloud experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be confident working with Java-based technologies, containerisation, and modern cloud platforms. This role requires on-site collaboration one day per week in either our Leeds or Manchester office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Use Git for version control and collaborative development workflows
- Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker
- Work with asynchronous messaging patterns to support scalable, event-driven systems
- Contribute to and follow CI/CD best practices for build, test, and deployment automation
- Develop and deploy solutions within Microsoft Azure environments
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Proficient with Git version control
- Hands-on experience with Docker
- Understanding of asynchronous messaging patterns (e.g., queues, pub/sub)
- Awareness of CI/CD pipelines and tooling
- Experience working with Azure cloud services
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to Kubernetes (K8s)
- Experience working with SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol)
