The ideal Lead SQL Database Administrator will possess a strong SQL Server background, having gained experience also using T-SQL and ideally Azure. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining and optimising the performance of the critical SQL Servers. As well as this you will document the database environment, manage database recovery and collaborate with IT development stakeholders to gather business requirements and design solutions.

Essential Skillset of the Lead SQL Database Administrator:

• Proficiency in SQL Server 2008 - SQL Server 2019, including Analysis Services and Integration Services.
• Strong T-SQL scripting skills.
• Experience in creating and maintaining documentation throughout the solution development lifecycle.
• Ability to identify and address problems, evaluate risks, and provide solutions or escalate when necessary.
• Capability to deliver well-tested solutions meeting end-users' needs.
• Understanding of physical and logical database design.
• Experience in maintaining Transactional Replication publications across multiple servers.
• Proficiency in utilising DMV queries to assess server-level performance.

Nice to Have:

• Proficiency in tuning T-SQL queries for improved performance.
• Experience leading/supporting a team.
• Visual interpretation of execution plans and bottleneck identification.
• Previous experience in proactively monitoring 20-30 SQL Servers.
• Experience with source control and Azure PaaS.
• Familiarity with SQL Server High Availability Solutions, such as AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances, Availability Groups, Database Mirroring, and Log Shipping.
