About The Role
We're looking for a Marketing Director, AI to lead our AI marketing strategy across multiple customer segments and markets. Reporting to the VP, B2B Marketing, you'll serve as the central orchestration layer for AI initiatives, ensuring consistent positioning while enabling field marketing teams to drive segment-specific thought leadership and demand generation. This is a unique opportunity to shape how Wiley continues to establish itself as a leader in AI-powered research intelligence during a pivotal moment of transformation.
Job Responsibilities
  • Orchestrate AI marketing across segments: Serve as the central coordination point for AI marketing activities spanning corporate markets, institutions, and society partners, ensuring consistent positioning while informing segment-specific strategies.
  • Enable marketing teams: Facilitate regular coordination between field marketing, product marketing, and AI product teams. Maintain shared messaging frameworks, credentials, and proof points that teams can leverage and adapt.
  • Build bridging narratives: Develop narratives that bridge Wiley's scholarly foundation to emerging AI use cases—helping libraries understand they're investing in AI-powered research infrastructure, or positioning Gateway as strategic platform evolution for Atypon publishers.
  • Drive thought leadership: Lead enterprise-wide AI thought leadership strategy while serving as subject matter expert for segment-specific initiatives. Collaborate with content teams to translate themes into executable programs.
  • Own conference strategy: Drive AI positioning at key industry events, coordinating sponsorship decisions, speaking opportunities, booth presence, and meeting programs.
  • Manage digital presence: Own AI content strategy for wiley.com and drive social media strategy to build community within technology and AI practitioner audiences.
  • Lead internal communications: Develop comprehensive internal communications strategy to build understanding and alignment around Wiley's AI positioning across the organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in marketing experience in B2B technology or academic publishing
  • Proven track record building thought leadership programs and establishing companies as category authorities
  • Experience positioning complex technical capabilities for both business and technical audiences
  • Strong project management capabilities coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
  • Exceptional strategic communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for multiple audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and drive initiatives with minimal oversight
  • Excellent stakeholder management across technical, commercial, internal, and executive functions
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of marketing experience in B2B technology or academic publishing
  • Experience in partner marketing, ecosystem development, or technology alliance marketing
  • Background working with senior executives on strategic communications and keynote presentations
  • Understanding of academic publishing or research workflows
  • Experience working in organizations undergoing significant transformation or market repositioning
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where strategies evolve rapidly
  • Intellectual curiosity about AI's impact on research and knowledge work

We are committed to fair, transparent pay, and we strive to provide competitive compensation in addition to a comprehensive benefits package. The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
