Position: Senior Software Engineer (OneSearch)

Are you an experienced engineer who thrives on building scalable systems and crafting seamless user experiences? We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Search Team and help shape how millions of guests discover their next perfect getaway.

As a leading holiday rentals company, search isn't just a utility on our platforms, it is the heartbeat of our booking journey. Our team is responsible for orchestrating the search experience across our diverse portfolio of brands, connecting guests with over 100,000 properties, including cottages, luxury lodges, and holiday parks. We build and optimize everything from lightning-fast location queries and feature filtering to high-performance price sorting, availability matching, and cutting-edge, machine-learning-driven recommendation algorithms.

This is a true full-stack opportunity. You will work across the entire product lifecycle, collaborating on robust backend services while ensuring a slick, intuitive, and high-performing frontend experience for our guests. If you enjoy solving complex data-retrieval, filtering, and multi-brand indexing challenges at scale while directly impacting the customer journey, we’d love to have you on board.

• Work as part of a full stack product team responsible for building innovative products to ensure we continue to deliver optimal experiences for our guests and owners.
• Help to shape the overall architecture and tech strategy for our Search platform
• Contribute to driving best engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD, cloud architectures and pair/mob programming
• Mentor and grow software engineers (grads, juniors and mid-weight engineers)
• Be an active member of the engineering and wider tech community within Awaze

Skills and experience you’ll need to succeed

You’ll enjoy leading in pairs and mobs. You thrive in an autonomous product engineering team and enjoy problems, we have many to solve.

It’s expected that you’ll offer significant commercial experience developing large/distributed systems and have skills/experience in a mixture of the following:

• Building applications in any language, and a willingness to quickly get up to speed on our stack (Kotlin, Typescript)
• Experience with OpenSearch or similar tools
• Experience with AWS or serverless technologies e.g. AWS ECS, API Gateway, Cloudfront
• Leading front end teams, building e-commerce websites using nextjs, react.
• Developing, securing or operating cloud scale applications or infrastructure as code
• Experimentation and analytics tools such as Optimizely and Google Analytics
• Working with Data Science, Design and Analytics teams
• Modern quality practices, such as pairing, TDD, BDD
