Principal Engineer - Software Assurance
Location: Coventry, Hybrid - 3 days/week on-site
Salary: Circa £60,000 DOE

Your RoleAs a technical leader in our software assurance team, you will collaborate with system designers and suppliers to ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of our products. Your mission? To meet the boat's safety and functional requirements while identifying and managing risks effectively.
Core Responsibilities- Contribute to and lead the software assurance strategy, applying engineering judgment across complex, software-intensive systems.
- Plan and lead software assurance activities, including technical reviews, audits, inspections, assessments, and test witnessing.
- Critically assess software plans, requirements, architectures, designs, and verification evidence against risks and applicable standards.
- Influence engineering decisions throughout the lifecycle, collaborating with developers, system designers, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines.
- Assess software risk and assurance evidence, providing authoritative conclusions and recommendations to customers and senior leadership.
- Lead by example, enhancing software assurance capability, mentoring engineers, and advancing standards, methods, tools, and engineering practices.
- Logical thinker with a knack for resolving problems and bringing stakeholders on board.
- Extensive knowledge of Software Assurance methods and processes, including audit and review.
- Understanding of software engineering, security, quality, and safety standards (e.g., Defence Standard 00-055, BS EN 61508, DO-178B/C).
- Good grasp of the software lifecycle and its application to various software types.
- Familiarity with the Systems Engineering lifecycle and its relation to software.
