About the RoleWe are seeking a highly capable and delivery-focused Full Stack Engineer to join a newly established Centre of Excellence (CoE). This strategic team is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and production-grade digital solutions across multiple client engagements in the financial services sector.
This role is ideal for an engineer with strong experience across both Java-based backend development and modern frontend frameworks such as Angular or React. The successful candidate will contribute to full lifecycle solution delivery, from architecture and development to deployment and support, while helping to define engineering standards within the CoE.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Java (Spring Boot) and Angular or React
- Build secure, scalable APIs and responsive, accessible user interfaces
- Collaborate with backend, frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver cohesive, end-to-end solutions
- Participate in architecture reviews, sprint planning, and technical design sessions
- Ensure adherence to modern engineering practices including Agile, CI/CD, and DevSecOps
- Contribute to the development of reusable engineering assets and CoE best practices
- Engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development
- Proficiency in Angular or React, along with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Experience delivering full stack solutions in enterprise-grade environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (e.g., Docker), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Experience working in regulated industries such as banking, fintech, or insurance
- Prior experience working in or contributing to a Centre of Excellence team
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Exposure to microservices architecture and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka)
- Experience with design systems and component libraries (e.g., Material, Storybook)
- Familiarity with observability tools and performance tuning
- Prior consulting experience or experience in client-facing roles
- Outside IR35
- 12-month initial contract with potential for extension or permanent employment
- Hybrid working model: minimum 2 days onsite in London, with flexibility to travel to other UK client sites as required
