About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable and automation-driven DevOps Engineer to join a newly established Centre of Excellence (CoE). This strategic team is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and production-grade digital platforms across multiple client engagements in the financial services sector.

This role is ideal for an engineer with strong experience in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code, who thrives in collaborative, high-accountability environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling continuous delivery, platform reliability, and engineering excellence across the CoE.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable software delivery
  • Build and manage cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to automate deployment, monitoring, and scaling of applications
  • Ensure platform security, compliance, and observability through DevSecOps best practices
  • Participate in architecture reviews, sprint planning, and incident response processes
  • Contribute to the development of reusable DevOps assets and CoE engineering standards
  • Support the integration of DevOps practices across multiple delivery teams and client engagements
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer in enterprise-grade environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog)
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as banking, fintech, or insurance
  • Prior experience working in or contributing to a Centre of Excellence team
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) and automation mindset
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Desirable Attributes
  • Exposure to service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd)
  • Experience with secrets management and security tooling (e.g., Vault, Snyk)
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS)
  • Prior consulting experience or experience in client-facing roles
Engagement Model
  • Outside IR35
  • 12-month initial contract with potential for extension or permanent employment
  • Hybrid working model: minimum 2 days onsite in London, with flexibility to travel to other UK client sites as required
  • Part of a long-term strategic capability within a joint consulting and technology delivery partnership
  • This is a strategic, reusable engineering role
