Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and delivery-focused Frontend Developer to join a newly established Centre of Excellence (CoE). This strategic unit is responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and production-grade digital solutions, while setting engineering standards across multiple client engagements.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in Angular or React, a strong understanding of secure and performant UI architecture, and prior experience contributing to or establishing a Centre of Excellence within a financial services or banking environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain responsive user interfaces using Angular or React.
- Define and implement secure, scalable, and maintainable frontend architecture.
- Collaborate with backend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions.
- Translate business and user requirements into intuitive, accessible, and performant interfaces.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
- Ensure adherence to modern engineering practices including CI/CD, DevSecOps, and Agile methodologies.
- Contribute to UI/UX best practices and promote consistency and quality across frontend implementations.
- Support the development and evolution of CoE standards and reusable engineering assets.
- Proven experience developing enterprise-grade applications using Angular or React.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend development tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to design secure, performant, and accessible frontend architectures.
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Prior experience working in regulated environments such as banking, fintech, or insurance.
- Experience contributing to or establishing a Centre of Excellence in a financial services context.
- Strong knowledge of frontend testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks and high-accountability environments.
- Experience with design systems and component libraries (e.g., Material, Storybook).
- Familiarity with performance monitoring and frontend observability tools.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Prior consulting experience or experience in client-facing roles.
- Initial contract engagement with a clear pathway to permanent employment.
- Hybrid working model: minimum two days onsite in London, with flexibility to travel to other UK client sites as required.
