Senior Data Engineer

I'm working with a large, complex organisation looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join its established data function.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining engineering, platform ownership and responsibility for leading delivery initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

- Design and develop scalable data pipelines and integration solutions across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Lead technical delivery across data migration, transformation and warehousing initiatives.
- Take ownership of engineering standards, platform performance and reliability.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and line management to engineers.
- Work closely with architects, delivery teams and external technology partners.

Essential experience:

- Strong SQL, data modelling and data warehousing expertise.
- Experience with modern ETL/ELT technologies, including Talend, dbt and Azure Data Factory.
- Cloud data platforms such as Azure SQL and Snowflake.
- API integrations, database optimisation and complex data migrations.
- Experience leading technical initiatives and supporting engineering teams.

Desirable experience:

- Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling, including Terraform and Azure DevOps.
- Monitoring and observability platforms.
- Data governance, security and CI/CD practices.

Hybrid working model, with onsite presence required on average 1-2 times per month.
