Insights Analyst

An exciting opportunity for an Insights Analyst to join a purpose-driven organisation based in Edinburgh (Hybrid - 4 days in office) focused on tackling inequality and improving outcomes across the UK.

This is a chance to play an important role in developing the organisation's research and insight capability, helping answer complex questions around social inequalities, emerging trends and the underlying factors driving systemic issues.

They're looking for someone with a strong background in applied research, critical thinking and problem-solving, who can take an ambiguous brief, investigate complex topics and turn findings into meaningful insights that influence strategic decisions.

The Company

You'll be joining a collaborative, values-driven organisation committed to reducing inequality and creating positive, long-term change across society.

Working alongside senior stakeholders and colleagues across multiple disciplines, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful initiatives and help shape the organisation's strategic direction.

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Insight and Innovation, you'll help build the organisation's qualitative research and insight capability.

You'll lead research into complex social and systemic issues, bringing together evidence from a variety of sources to identify trends, understand underlying drivers and highlight opportunities for change.

This is an individual contributor role, offering plenty of autonomy and the opportunity to shape how research questions are approached and investigated.

Key Responsibilities:

** Lead primary and secondary research into social inequalities and emerging trends.

** Investigate complex problems, breaking ambiguous briefs into structured research questions and hypotheses.

** Analyse unstructured information, reports, policy developments and wider evidence sources.

** Apply qualitative and mixed-methods research approaches to identify patterns and underlying drivers.

** Use systems thinking to understand the relationships between different factors contributing to inequality.

** Translate research findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for senior stakeholders.

** Identify gaps in existing evidence and opportunities for further research.

You'll ideally have experience in the following:

** Applied research, qualitative or mixed-methods research (applied roles not academia)

** Designing and delivering primary and secondary research projects.

** Systems thinking, systems modelling or understanding complex social and economic factors.

** Working with unstructured information, grey literature and varied evidence sources.

** Turning complex research into clear findings and strategic recommendations.

** Working independently and engaging with senior stakeholders.

Your background could likely be in population health, health inequalities, economics, public policy, education, labour markets, strategic consulting or another similar research-focused environment.

They're particularly interested in applied research experience rather than purely academic backgrounds.

The Offer:

Their offices are in central Edinburgh and are commutable from both train stations where they support hybrid working (4 days in office). In return they are offering a salary ranging between £45-60k (DOE) and a strong benefits package (includes 40 days holiday and 8% employer pension contribution)
