Head of Technology & Data

Cedar are recruiting a Head of Technology & Data position for an exciting Financial Services business on an impressive growth journey. This is a newly created position reporting in the Chief Operating Officer and play a crucial part in defining the technological vision of the business.

This is an ideal opportunity for a IT/Data leader who have scaled technology maturity in organisations that are moving from outsourced or fragmented setups towards more standardised, resilient, insight-driven operations.

They offer great flexibility being a predominantly work from home business looking for someone to visit their central London location 1 day per week.

Purpose of the Role

The Head of Technology and Data is responsible for defining and delivering the organisation's technology and data strategy. The role ensures cyber resilience, manages key technology and data suppliers, and leads the development of AI and analytics capability. The post holder will provide both strategic leadership and hands on oversight across technology operations, data governance, and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organisation's approach to cyber security policy, risk management, and governance.
  • Oversee the performance and delivery of the managed service provider and data platform partners, ensuring services meet operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement AI and analytics strategies that support business objectives and enhance insight and decision making.
  • Establish and maintain data governance standards in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
  • Drive operational resilience and ensure continuity across all technology and data services.
  • Validate technical proposals and solutions from suppliers to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Translate strategic goals into clear technical and data requirements and deliver these through internal teams and third parties.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in supplier management, including the technical validation of external partners.
  • Experience in cyber security governance and operational resilience.
  • Understanding of data strategy, analytics, and modern data platform design
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and support the organisation through change.
  • Experience in a regulated environment is advantageous though not essential.
  • Ability to operate as a senior leader while also contributing in a hands on capacity when required.
