Senior/Principal Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior/Principal Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our growing team at Clearly. This is a high-impact role where you will shape the technical foundation of our platform, influence product direction, and help us scale as a company. You'll work closely with a cross-functional team and leadership, including the CEO, to ensure long-term strategy, product vision, and user experience all stay aligned.

What you'll be doing (Responsibilities)

  • Drive the design and delivery of technical solutions that solve real business problems and create value for our customers.
  • Own key aspects of our system architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate with product, commercial, and leadership teams to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code across the stack, and contribute to code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and bring best practice into the team.

What you'll need (Requirements and experience)

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a JavaScript/TypeScript engineer (full-stack). Experience in a leadership role is a plus.
  • Proven experience working in an early-stage startup environment, ideally in B2B SaaS. You know how to thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and take ownership.
  • Strong knowledge of modern frameworks and libraries (especially React on the front end).
  • Experience building and maintaining APIs (REST/GraphQL), including documentation and SDKs.
  • Solid understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and server-side development.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Ability to use the latest technologies to your advantage, while knowing when to keep things simple and avoid over-engineering.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across disciplines.
  • A pragmatic, problem-solving mindset, comfortable making trade-offs to deliver value quickly without compromising long-term quality.

Application process

  • 15-minute screening call with a member of the team
  • Technical/architecture exercise (short take-home or live session, time-boxed to respect your time)
  • Final Interview with CEO

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • 33 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • Share options under the tax-friendly EMI scheme
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Dog-friendly office right above the beautiful Eccleston Yards
  • Private healthcare (including dental and optic)
  • Outstanding career progression opportunities
