Staff AI Engineer
Salary: £105,000 - £120,000

Data Idols are working with a leading organisation that is investing significantly in its Data & AI capabilities. They are looking for a Staff AI Engineer to play a key role in shaping, building and scaling AI solutions across the business.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, combining AI engineering, technical strategy and innovation, with the opportunity to take emerging AI technologies and turn them into secure, scalable products that deliver real business value.
The Opportunity
As a Staff AI Engineer, you'll help drive the technical direction of a growing AI engineering capability, leading the design, development and deployment of AI, Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions.
Partnering closely with business and technology stakeholders, you'll identify high-value AI use cases, rapidly prototype new solutions and take successful ideas through to production. You'll work with emerging technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents and agentic AI, helping to shape how these technologies are adopted and scaled across the organisation.
You'll also play an important role in shaping the AI technical roadmap, influencing engineering best practices and ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, well-governed and aligned with responsible AI practices.
Skills and Experience
- Strong experience designing, building and deploying AI, Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions
- Hands-on experience working with LLMs, AI agents and modern GenAI technologies
- Experience developing and deploying scalable, production-ready AI applications
- Experience working with cloud platforms and AI technologies, such as Azure, AWS or GCP
- Exposure to Databricks, Microsoft Foundry or similar AI and data platforms would be beneficial
- Strong stakeholder management skills
