They need Principal Data Architects who want real ownership and influence, and who stay close to delivery.
**The role**
Set technical direction for large-scale data platforms on mission-critical programmes. Work alongside senior stakeholders, engineers and delivery teams. Hands-on architecture: shape the platform, guide the build, make sure it works in the real world.
**What you'll do**
- Own data architecture across complex, secure programmes
- Design end-to-end platforms, from ingestion to analytics and operational use
- Build scalable architectures for highly classified environments
- Turn mission requirements into solutions that can be delivered
- Lead engineering teams through implementation
- Shape long-term architecture and platform strategy
**The environment**
AWS, Azure, GCP · Databricks, Snowflake · Lake, lakehouse and modern warehouse architectures · Distributed processing · DevOps, IaC and secure deployment · Governance, access control and analytics
**What we're looking for**
- Active DV clearance
- Proven delivery of enterprise-scale data platforms
- Defence, national security or secure government experience
- Deep cloud data architecture and secure design skills
- Confident with senior technical and business stakeholders
- Track record leading teams through complex delivery
