Technology & Strategy Lead for AI
We're looking for a visionary Technology & Strategy Lead for AI to drive E.ON Next's AI technology strategy and platforms. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll shape our AI landscape across in-house software, SaaS, and cloud platforms, leading and empowering our AI Engineering teams.
You'll collaborate with Product, Data, Operations, and C-suite leaders to unlock value, align AI strategy across the UK and lead our in-house GenAI Platform team. Your role will advance AI adoption and support delivery of our UK Data Strategy, combining technical expertise with strong leadership to solve complex business and technology challenges.
This is a hybrid role, typically working 1 day per week at our Citigen office in London.
Here's a taste of what you'll be doing

Develop E.ON UK's AI Strategy aligned to business objectives across the broader UK DT organisation, identifying high-impact AI opportunities, and advise C-suite on AI investments and capabilities across both the AI and Data Transformation programmes.

Establish frameworks for responsible AI use, ensure compliance with UK and EU regulations, auditability, address bias and fairness concerns, and implement risk management protocols.

Build, mentor, and manage cross-functional AI teams including AI Engineers, data scientists, ML engineers and researchers. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Guide the selection and implementation of AI technologies, platforms, and tools. Ensure best practices in model development, deployment, and MLOps while cultivating deep partnerships with SaaS providers, in-house engineering teams and product management teams across the UK business.

Collaborate with UK-wide business units to understand needs, translate them into AI solutions, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Manage expectations and demonstrate ROI.

Stay current with advances in AI, evaluate other emerging AI technologies, and drive experimentation with cutting-edge approaches.
Are we the perfect match?

8-12+ years in AI/ML or a background in Data with 3-5+ years in leadership roles.

Deep understanding and experience of AI technologies, trends and strategies with expertise in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, or other AI domains such as Generative AI and Agentic AI.

Track record of deploying AI solutions at scale with experience in leveraging and building AI technology to unlock real customer and business value.

Expertise in leading technology transformations, ensuring organisational agility and driving efficient, effective execution of strategic technology roadmaps.

Proven ability to cultivate and leverage strategic partnerships with SaaS providers and technology partners to drive innovation and a competitive advantage.

Deep understanding of emerging technologies and their potential impact on the business, with a proven ability to drive strategic innovation and maintain market leading technology.

Experience with cloud platforms, GenAI platforms, modern ML frameworks, data strategy and data platforms.

Exceptional communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, with a proven ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including Directors and the C-suite.

Demonstrated ability to challenge conventional thinking and drive strategic change, influencing organisational culture and direction at the highest levels.

Proven track record of overseeing and optimising significant and complex technology platforms and deployment pipelines, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives, translating AI initiatives to outcome.

Proven experience in a leadership role with experience managing diverse and high performing software and data engineers; including creating cultures with strong psychological safety and empowerment.
