Senior Systems Support Specialist
Job summary
The post holder will be involved in the Incident Management Processes, with a focus on the customer at all times. The post holder will form part of a out-of-hours rota which will provide Service Delivery 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Service Desk Specialists to maintain excellent communications with the customer and the rest of the Service Delivery Team.
The post holder will be an effective team player contributing towards a dynamic leading edge department which through the use of supporting technologies is constantly striving to make a positive impact on improved patient care, whilst doing so in a consistently professional manner often under high pressure and always using Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practice.
Main duties of the job
The Informatics team are responsible for developing the trusts information communication and Technology Strategy, and for delivering the information systems development programme. It also ensures the operation of secure and confidential systems, the provision of high quality information and records to support this.

Job responsibilities
Work in a pro-active manner to prevent information, clinical and business process failure from occurring and seek improvements in the service provided to Morecambe Bay Health Community's computer users.
Provide the community's clinical and administrative users with basic application support for national applications.
The post holder will be expected to assist the Service Delivery Manager to manage high severity incidents out-of-hours, liaising with the Informatics IT Engineer and Senior Manager on-call rota, the Local Service Provider and the Connecting for Health Service Bridge.
The post holder will be sympathetic to the appropriate use of the Information Systems within the clinical environment and will offer advice and support in a clinical environment in a manner which will compliment the clinicians ability to deliver patient care.
The post holder will be exposed to high pressure situations and will be required to communicate clearly in a sensitive and appropriate manner at all times with all levels of staff. Significant internal and external contact include Consultant Clinicians, Trust Directors, General Practitioners, General Practice System Suppliers and Hospital System Suppliers.
Person Specification
Essential criteria
- Must be self-motivating and able to demonstrate an ability to achieve targets and undertake specific projects
- Must have previous experience of working in the NHS
- Must be able to multi-task when user pressure
- In depth understanding of healthcare business and clinical processes
- Good understanding of the concepts of Healthcare computing
- Must be able to work in a small dedicated team environment
