Team Leader - Software Development (JavaScript PHP React)
Hybrid, two office days per month

Lead a small engineering team at a growing software consultancy. You'll stay hands-on while mentoring developers, shaping technical direction, and delivering high-impact client solutions.

Key duties

• Translate client needs into scalable, maintainable architectures.

• Refactor and improve Legacy systems with a focus on performance and security.

• Prioritise delivery with PMs and support early-stage solution design.

• Drive clean code, peer reviews, and team mentoring.

• Use 10% of time for R&D, including AI, new frameworks, or cloud tech.

What you'll bring

• Strong commercial experience with JavaScript (Node.js), PHP, and React.

• Familiarity with TypeScript, Laravel, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker.

• Exposure to AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).

• Understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and secure web application design.

• Real leadership experience-mentoring, code quality ownership, and architectural input.

• Strong communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Package
£60-75k base + monthly performance bonus, private medical, share scheme, holiday buy/sell, and dedicated L&D time.
