Senior Systems Engineer

Systems Engineer - Bristol - Defence - Contract. My client is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with strong a MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) background to support the development of complex defence systems and platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating stakeholder needs into system requirements, developing system architectures, creating SysML models and supporting integration, verification and validation activities throughout the programme lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture, analyse and manage customer and stakeholder requirements.
• Develop and maintain requirements traceability throughout the system lifecycle.
• Create and maintain MBSE artefacts using SysML and industry-standard modelling tools.
• Develop logical, functional and physical architectures.
• Support system decomposition and interface management activities.
• Produce operational concepts, use cases, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams and state models.
• Define verification and validation strategies and acceptance criteria.
• Support design reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR and System Acceptance Reviews.
• Work collaboratively with software, electronics, mechanical, safety and security engineering teams.
• Support integration, testing and customer acceptance activities.
• Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience in Systems Engineering within Defence, Aerospace or Naval.
• Strong understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model.
• Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles on complex programmes.
• Experience developing SysML models and system architectures.
• Requirements management and traceability experience.
• Experience supporting system integration and verification activities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and technical communication skills.
