Test Development Engineer
This is an ideal role for a hands-on engineer who enjoys taking ownership of complex manufacturing and test engineering projects. If you're looking to take your career to the next level within a growing, innovative business, this opportunity lets you play a key role in developing manufacturing capability for cutting-edge RF and satellite communications technology. This varied technical role involves owning manufacturing and test engineering projects, developing automated test solutions, and helping bring new products into production.
Working closely with design, engineering and manufacturing teams, you will lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, helping transition new products from development into production. You will also develop and improve automated RF test solutions, ensuring products can be tested efficiently, accurately, and reliably.
The position offers plenty of variety and suits someone who enjoys getting hands-on with technology, understanding how products work, and developing practical solutions to technical challenges. You will design and develop test equipment, jigs and fixtures, automate RF testing processes, commission test stations and produce the necessary manufacturing and test documentation. You will also support continuous improvement activities, provide technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle and work collaboratively with colleagues to improve overall manufacturing and test capability.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RF and microwave testing, alongside experience developing automated test solutions using LabVIEW. However, the business is also open to engineers with strong RF testing experience and Python programming skills. In particular, they are interested in individuals who have developed their own software, applications or automated testing solutions, rather than simply operating programmes and systems created by others.
A genuine interest in understanding products and how they work is important. You should enjoy investigating technical challenges, developing new testing methods and taking ownership of solutions from initial concept through to implementation. Experience with production environments and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) would be beneficial but is not essential for someone with the right RF testing and software development background.
This role offers the opportunity to join an expanding engineering team where you can make a real contribution to the development of innovative technology, take ownership of projects and further develop your technical expertise.
