The Opportunity
The Data Engineer supports the ongoing development and optimisation of Escode’s Data Platform, ensuring it meets business needs for availability, performance, and data integrity. By collaborating with technical and business stakeholders, the Data Engineer translates requirements into effective solutions, contributing to successful business outcomes. The role operates within an Agile Kanban workflow, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of data solutions using modern tools and best practices.
Key Accountabilities
- Create and continuously develop Escode’s Data Platform, ensuring its availability and performance to meet business needs
- Build data pipelines to connect APIs, files, databases, and data streams to our Data Platform
- Manage the ETL/ELT for the Data Platform end-to-end, including our dimensionally modelled semantic layer
- Define and embed data quality measures within data pipelines
- Ensure data integrity, monitoring, and alerting are integrated into all solutions
- Create and manage Build and Deployment pipelines
- Collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions and ensure successful business outcomes
- Work in an Agile Kanban workflow to safely code, review, test, and deploy solutions using source control
Functional and Technical Skills
- Extensive hands-on experience with the tools within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem (As a must: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse or Azure SQL)
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Fabric
- Hands on experience with dimensional modelling of operational data for analytics use cases
- Knowledge of ETL tools and approaches
- Experience with Python for scripting and automating data tasks.
- Knowledge of CI/CD approaches for Data Platforms using various methodologies primarily Azure Dev Ops
- Knowledge of MS SQL Server, SSIS, Visual Studio, and SSDT projects.
- Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in computer science, data science, or a related field
- Experience of developing dashboards and reports in Power BI
