About The Role

The Senior E-commerce Full Stack Software Engineer role is responsible for the design, development and optimisation of secure, high-performing E-Commerce B2C websites and shopping Apps that enhance customer experience and business performance.

The Role Involves

  • The role involves working collaboratively with E-Commerce team members, CRO and digital analytics analysts, SEO analysts, creative and UX designers and digital experience owners to:
  • Develop and maintain conversion rate optimization (CRO) and personalisation functional experiments (A/B tests), introduce SEO features, optimise web page response times, manage marketing tags and digital analytics integration designed to enhance customer experience and achieve business growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain high impact, high performance, responsive web sites and Apps whilst ensuring seamless integration with back-end services, through leveraging Agile software development practices.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and maintaining high-quality CRO and personalisation experiments (A/B tests) that will help us learn, improve, and optimise our customers online shopping experience.
  • Developing and maintaining our websites to boost search engine crawlability, search engine visibility and improved search index rankings.
  • Optimising end to end website performance, ensuring fast page load times and smooth user interactions, cross-browser compatibility and accessibility standards compliance.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining scalable, secure and high-performance, responsive web pages by developing using front-end technologies (HTML5,CSS, jQuery) and server-side scripting technology (Microsoft ASP).
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining scalable, secure and high-performance cross-platform Apps using open-source frameworks (Apache Cordova, ionic).
  • Using monitoring tools (New Relic) and ELK to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system issues.
  • Keeping up to date with emerging E-commerce technologies, industry trends and best practices.
  • Participating and providing technical insights during Agile influenced ceremonies, including sprint planning sessions, stand-ups and retrospectives.
  • Ensuring web development security best practices are implemented and maintained that comply with applicable UK regulations such as UK-GDPR, UK Payment Services Regulations and PCI-DSS.

About You

Essential

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, building high-traffic, high availability systems with at least 3 years in a front-end software engineer role.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining performant, scalable and secure transactional E-Commerce websites.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS and JavaScript with strong experience with front-end frameworks such as AngularJS, jQuery.
  • Experience of working with server-side scripting languages or frameworks (Microsoft ASP, .NET) and of integrating front-end technologies (HTML5,CSS, jQuery).
  • Experience of integrating front-end digital marketing technologies such as Tag management (Adobe Launch), Digital Analytics (Adobe Analytics), A/B testing, CRO and Personalisation (Adobe Target).
  • Familiarity with mobile app development frameworks such as Apache Cordova, ionic).
  • Experience in performance optimisation techniques (lazy loading, code splitting, caching) and familiarity with web front-end performance metrics such as (FCP, LCP, CLS).
  • Knowledge of front-end security best practices for protection against vulnerabilities such as CSRF, XSS,CORS.

Desirable

  • Strong E-Commerce knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
  • Digital Marketing (SEO, Digital Advertising (Google Marketing Platform), Social (Meta, Pinterest, TikTok).
  • Digital Merchandising (Search and Navigation, Product Recommendations, Product Reviews (Power Reviews).
  • Experience of working with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and of working within Agile software development environments.
  • Experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD build pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Selenium).
