Project Controls & Assurance SME – Defence IT – Corsham (Hybrid) - £550 to £590 per day – Initial 5 month contract with extension
FryerMiles are working with a leading Defence consultancy to recruit a Project Controls & Assurance SME to support a major Defence IT Live Services portfolio.
The successful candidate will provide independent project controls oversight and assurance across multiple projects, ensuring effective governance, robust delivery controls and accurate reporting to support senior management decision making.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct project assurance reviews, health checks and maturity assessments, identifying areas for improvement.
- Review and challenge project schedules, milestones, critical paths, dependencies and delivery forecasts.
- Provide assurance across project controls including risk, change, cost, resource and schedule management.
- Review RAIDO processes, ensuring risks, issues and dependencies are effectively managed and escalated.
- Assess project performance, delivery confidence and RAG reporting, identifying potential delivery risks.
- Analyse management information, KPIs and dashboards to provide clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Work closely with Delivery Managers and PMO teams to improve governance, reporting standards and project controls maturity.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in Project Controls, PMO Assurance or Programme Assurance within complex delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of project governance, planning, scheduling, risk management and financial controls.
- Proven experience conducting independent project assurance reviews, health checks and maturity assessments.
- Experience reviewing project schedules, critical paths, dependencies and delivery forecasts.
- Strong knowledge of RAIDO management, performance reporting and delivery assurance.
- Experience developing and analysing management information, KPIs, dashboards and RAG reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge Delivery Managers and senior stakeholders.
- Must hold valid SC clearance as a minimum
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting Defence, Government or complex IT programmes.
- Knowledge of project controls tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 and Power BI.
- Experience improving project controls processes and governance frameworks across multiple projects.
