Principal Simulation and Modelling Engineer
Senior Simulation & Modelling EngineerWe’re looking for a Senior Simulation & Modelling Engineer to join a high-performing team working on some of the most exciting surface-launched air defence and future systems projects in the UK. If you’re an experienced engineer, physicist, or mathematician with a passion for modelling complex systems and building quality code, this could be the role for you.As a Senior Simulation & Modelling Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of developing and integrating dynamic numerical models (mainly in MATLAB and Simulink) to simulate real-world weapon systems. These simulations play a key role in everything from concept and assessment to in-service support, helping our teams and customers understand system performance from start to finish.Day to day, as a Senior Simulation & Modelling Engineer, you will:
- Develop, integrate, and validate dynamic simulation models
- Work closely with system designers, control engineers, and software developers
- Automate test and verification processes and support continuous integration
- Help ensure model quality through peer reviews and configuration management
- Integrate external models (FMUs, C++, third-party software) into our environments
- Present your work and collaborate with internal and external partners
- Strong hands-on experience with MATLAB and Simulink (or similar modelling tools)
- Good understanding of dynamic systems and numerical modelling
- Experience with automated testing, version control (Git, EWM), and model documentation
- Comfortable working in a model-based design environment, with solid coding standards
- Experience integrating external code or models into simulation environments
- Familiarity with automated C/C++ code generation from Simulink
- Agile/Scrum/Kanban experience is a bonus
