We are an established IT consultancy looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team on a part-time basis.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the commercial activities that underpin our new business, customer renewals, supplier relationships and service delivery. You will work closely with our sales, account management, finance, project management and technical teams, as well as external vendors, suppliers and legal advisers.

The successful candidate will have previously worked as a Commercial Manager or in a closely comparable commercial role. Experience within an IT consultancy, technology business or software and services environment would be advantageous, but it is not essential.

The role would suit someone who is commercially astute, highly organised and comfortable taking ownership of a broad range of activities. These will include supporting commercial transactions, coordinating contract reviews, managing sales and purchasing processes, and ensuring that commercial records and systems remain accurate and up to date.

Key responsibilities:

Commercial support and new business:

  • Support the commercial administration of new business opportunities from quotation through to contract execution
  • Coordinate pricing requests, commercial documentation and supplier engagement activities
  • Assist with the drafting, review and progression of customer and supplier agreements, liaising with legal advisers where required
  • Ensure commercial records, documentation and workflows are maintained accurately and efficiently

Sales orders, purchasing and invoicing:

  • Manage the end-to-end processing of sales orders, customer invoicing and supplier purchasing activities
  • Ensure accurate commercial and contractual information is maintained across CRM, finance and operational systems
  • Coordinate order fulfilment, entitlement documentation and commercial closure activities

Renewals management:

  • Manage the commercial delivery of software and service renewals across a portfolio of more than 130 annual renewals
  • Obtain supplier pricing, prepare renewal quotations and support Account Directors through to customer signature
  • Ensure renewal orders, invoicing, entitlement records and commercial documentation remain accurate and up to date
  • Work closely with vendors, partners and technical teams to deliver successful customer renewals

Supplier and contract management:

  • Act as a key point of contact for supplier commercial matters and relationships
  • Support supplier negotiations, onboarding activities and contract management processes
  • Conduct commercial reviews of customer and supplier agreements, working with legal advisers where appropriate
  • Maintain supplier records, monitoring activities and associated governance requirements

Commercial governance and administration:

  • Support commercial governance activities, including contract administration, reporting, compliance and procurement processes
  • Maintain high standards of data quality across commercial systems and records
  • Produce commercial reports, commission statements and supporting business information
  • Respond to internal commercial queries and identify opportunities to improve commercial processes and controls

About you:

Essential experience and capabilities:

  • Previous experience as a Commercial Manager or in a comparable commercial role.
  • Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing multiple commercial activities, deadlines and stakeholders.
  • Confidence working across sales, finance, operations and service delivery teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and take ownership of commercial processes.
  • A methodical approach to record-keeping, document management and data accuracy.
  • Confidence communicating with customers, suppliers, partners and professional advisers.

Desirable experience:

  • Experience within an IT consultancy, software, technology or professional services organisation.
  • Experience reviewing customer or supplier contracts and identifying commercial issues.
  • Experience liaising with legal advisers and supporting contract negotiations.
  • Knowledge of software licensing, renewals, managed services or vendor programmes.
  • Experience using CRM, accounting and document-management systems.
  • Familiarity with Sage, HubSpot, SharePoint or similar business systems.
  • Experience supporting ISO or procurement compliance activities.
